Enjoin The Good
امر بالمعروف و نهى عن المنكر
Amr bil Ma’ruf wa Nahy an al Munkar
“Enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil”
Most of us have had heard this verse before in one way or another. In fact, it is in the Quran 9 times. This can also be referenced in the hadith shown below.
Abu Sa’id al Khudri reported that the prophet Muhammad said, “Whoever amongst you sees an evil, he must change it with his hand. If he is not able to do so, then with his tongue. And if he is not able to do so, then with his heart, and that is the weakest form of faith”.
If you see someone who is doing something evil or something unjust then you must take the proper action to change said deed. If you are unable to physically do something then try changing them with your words. If that isn’t doable then you must change it with your heart.
To enjoin something means to direct or to urge someone to do something. If we look at the verses in the Quran, Allah says that we must enjoin the good. Meaning that we must direct the people to do what is good and what is just.
